One of Atlanta’s players had to have surgery on his eyes for blurry vision recently. And I’ve noticed overall, a lot of them just look “grey” and sickly.
I think it could certainly explain the dropoff in hitting that many players have experienced. Like Marcell Ozuna for the Braves - from 2014 to 2020 he was consistently above league average and since he got the jab around March 2021, he's been 30% or so below league average. May have lost his MLB job recently from what I read.
Or on the Astros, Yuli Gurriel. Dude won the American League batting title last year hitting .319 and this year he puts up a weak .245. It's not even clear his manager would start him in the playoffs.
It would be interesting to follow the stats of players who have taken the clot-shot for sure.
For a while there it seemed that US pro athletes (MLB, NFL, NBA) weren’t being affected the way other athletes including college athletes or retired athletes have been. I was thinking they got a kind of special version of the vax
Edited - sorry, I see you said the same thing above!
As a Braves fan, I can confirm eddie rosario did get a procedure done to correct blurry vision.
Also, Ozuna is still on the team (inconceivably, might I add), but his future is once again clouded thanks to a DUI arrest a couple of nights ago. And this comes after being arrested for a domestic incident last year.
But other than that, I agree with your assessment: Ozuna absolutely raked for us during the shortened 2020 season which warranted the Braves to sign him to that contract. Since then, he has been a disappointment, and it's possible the clot shot has something to do with his and dozens of others' offense production.
