Germany's main strength was that they were a manufacturing power-house. The key word is "were".
If Germany is intent on relying on Wind and Solar Power (both are intermittent sources and unreliable for 24/7 electricity)... and reliance on Russian oil and gas, then Germany may not be a manufacturing power for long.
India is emerging as a new manufacturing power-house to rival China. There are a LOT of nations with an increasingly educated cheap labor force that will step in... and THEY will use coal power, oil and gas from any source... and they will out-compete Germany in manufacturing.
Germany only has a few years left to get it's act together. If they don't... then the manufacturing will move overseas. At that point, Germany becomes a nation in rapid decline (which is already showing in their stupid decision making).
