Although they did get "news" out in those days "quickly" that quickly is probably for interpretation, considering it was a large Revolution, the 15 years doesn't sound like a long time. In today's world I would expect news to get around more quickly, kind of like the lies travel today (and people tend to believe the lies more and more).
