"The USDA wants Miller to operate under the “Federal Grant of Inspection” before slaughtering, preparing, processing or selling for distribution certain meat and poultry products.
Miller had been slaughtering animals like cattle, chickens and pigs without federal inspections of his operation for several years. He argued that his business model of selling private club memberships to his Miller’s Organic Farm exempted him from federal regulations."
I don't understand that part.
Who was Miller selling the meat products to?
What are the private club memberships all about?
I thought he was raising the animals for feeding his own family. The selling part opens up the door for the feds to come in.
I just posted to the main thread here - but indeed - 4000 high-end customers from restaurants to private chefs. This is in no way a small farm and somewhere well before the size they are they should have started following the consumer demanded rules put in place. Does the private club protect him from this? Does it protect Costco?
