you refuse to wear a seatbelt? Am I reading that right? I'm all for questioning government in many cases - but not laws in a safety case like this. You can argue it all you want, but seat belts save lives. Many lives as many people drive poorly. And with that its a numbers thing... so society has accepted a law that saves lives if everyone follows it, even if not everyone is smart enough to just wear a seatbelt without a law and a fine compelling them to do so. Oh wait... yours must have been sarcasm? apologies if it was and I missed it... otherwise, just buckle-up. NCSWIC!

Despite anyone’s opinion of the performance (personally I see nothing “sexual” about the Vegas performance )of this acrobatic sword swollower at a men’s retreat; itwas not at a Sunday church service. The pastor handled it wrong and I agree that he was reprimanded for how he handled his distaste of the performance. NCSWIC!

Per NASA this is only 3.78cm per year and has a very slightly elliptical orbit. It can be calculated out exactly when there will be no more total eclipses seen on earth... this is going to be in 563 million years. Its rate of moving away is also slowing down... in like15 billion years it will no longer be moving away. But we will be swallowed up by our sun expanding in about 6-7 billion years... so we're married tot he moon and to total eclipses for quite a while longer than a few hundred years. Fun stuff though. (I did not downvote you)

I had wondered but then got busy and didn't look that up... very cool, thanks!

To add to this... it was pretty cool seeing a few stars during the eclipse.

This is not correct. Most of the moon is dark except for a small sliver... but even then you don't see the moon often at all during the day when it is just in the general vicinity of the sun... because the sky itself is too light to see any other light outside getting in... same reason you don't see stars during the day but they're there just the same.

https://files.catbox.moe/sm4q95.png clouds were wispy for both of us and both had basically clear skies when it took place. Had another pal down in Mexico and we were all chatting being along the same path and all. Wonderful thing to see.

Had an awesome view in central TX - something I'll remember for the rest of my life. Awe inspiring to say the least. Really humbling and makes one sense the sheer size of things in our solar system.

I like the community note about ScienceAlert in general... This is not a scientific journal and instead just has free-lance "science journalists" trying to drum up excitement about things that just aren't that exciting without years of background in the field. They just aren't that credible in my opinion. Regardless... NCSWIC!

Rooibos Bush Tea (red bush tea from South Africa) is excellent for arthritis. Personally I love it and think with cream and sugar it tastes like white chocolate. I have seen an 80 year old man unable to lift arms above his head due to arthritis regain full motion without pain after about two months of a cup or two of this every morning. I'm not saying its a cure and I'm sure results vary wildly, but probably worth looking into. Back when I saw this work it hadn't quite hit the US yet and the only way to get it was by relatives (ex in-law's family) mailing it from there. It wasn't processed and was very raw but the store bought ones you can get here taste the same to me... been 30 years now since then... crazy. NCSWIC!!!

Reddit has done one thing for me... big red pill for some when I go over just how many subreddits were moderated by Ghislaine Maxwell. The place is trash entirely. I posted a crazy dashcam happening a few weeks ago on a subreddit that a friend frequents... the people calling me out on my other posts (all shit posts or heckling lefties) you can see from my profile was glorious. Apparently it was a hot dashcam video and it took my rating from below 0 to over 5k just like that. I've been taking that positive rating out for a spin and working on gettin my rating down negative again commenting on libtard posts here and there. NCSWIC!

Still a battlefield worth being in if you can stomach it.

um... sure, I didn't see this much in CA (neither bay area, nor central valley) but coming on 6.5 years in central TX and I've used these super super convenient stand-alone emergency rooms a few times. I have been impressed each time... they seem so much more there for the patients than the many trips I've been to emergency rooms at the still-fairly-nearby hospitals. We've had conversations about these unfamiliar emergency rooms and I've got to say, thumbs up. However, I can also say that these non-hospital, non-long-term or in-patient facilities were pretty darn empty during the "scamdemic". So far I'm a fan. NCSWIC!

That’s a huge leap I’m AI capabilities if this was a deliberate movement - don’t want to rain in anyone’s AI fantasy parade and all, but for an AI to move their hand in a deliberately inappropriate manor there are so many things to factor in. If this was someone controlling it via remote that “could” make sense but the lady would have to be in on it to stand just where needed. Most likely the “AI” was doing a subtle conversational movement as a trick to seem less artificial and she just happened to be in the right place. Just think about the level of visual and special awareness that needs to be figured in - even if coded gemeratively I don’t see it happening here. Regardless… NCSWIC!!!
