Being an Englishman, I can back this up. In the last year or so, the taste and smell of our mains tap water has changed. They are putting a shit load of chlorine in there. Smells like a swimming pool but obviously not as strong. I only drink bottled mineral water. But yeah, fuckery is going on for sure.
I'm in Texas, and I've been drinking bottled spring water, but last week when I ran out and before I could get to the store I drank some from the tap. My motivation for buying spring water was restored because of the surprisingly strong smell of chlorine. It didn't use to be like that. I wonder if a Big Berkey filter would be sufficient.

I suspect they are doing the same with our water system in Texas as well,

The flouride has definately been upped in the central texas area.
I’m in east Texas and I fill up my jugs once a week at the source findaspring.com
Northeast TX on a 500ft aquifer well. If they ever taint that, were all f'd.
That's where I am. HEB's gallon spring water is usually sold out, and on my last visit the Crystal Geyser was down to 4 difficult-to-reach gallons.
Ditto here in Philly. I filter it. Reminds me I need to put in more shungite.
