I’m sharing these dreams because I know that a lot of people have storms in their lives right now, and that some find it difficult to bat away fear when they see news of what’s happening out there.
1: Years ago, I think while Obama was still president, I needed a fresh infusion of hope, and I asked God for a sign. God has a quirky sense of humor, and He gave me a literal sign in a dream. I was with my family in a city that had been devastated. It was very dark, and the sky above was filled with apocalyptic-looking clouds. Many of the tall buildings were broken and empty, and there were fires everywhere. People were out in the streets, huddled in fearful groups or running. I heard violence and screams.
I looked up and saw the devil flying through the air. He was carrying a sign that read, “Who cares what the devil may do?”
I noticed a light and looked to see a tall white building where I knew we lived. It was all lit up like the opening day of a Las Vagas casino, and it was such a contrast to the condition of the rest of the city. The building was absolutely clean and perfect. We headed for it, and we were amazed when we entered our apartment. It was spotlessly clean, brightly lit, comfortably furnished, and the refrigerator was fully stocked with food.
I laughed when I woke up. There was nothing to interpret because the message was clear: There was no need for me to be concerned about how the devil’s actions might impact me. The Lord had provided for my provision and safety right in the midst of it all.
2: Thinking about this reminded me of another dream I had probably 40 years ago. It was another dark apocalyptic day in the dream. I was on my bike and became terrified when I saw tornados spinning everywhere. I mean they were everywhere. Some were even in groups moving along together. I asked the Lord how I would get home, and He said, “You know the way, just go home.” I started to ride off, trusting He would keep them off me, but on the way I stopped to consider one of the tornados. It began to look odd, and I suddenly saw lights and cameras around it like it was on the set of a movie. I kept looking at the tornado, and it became apparent that it wasn’t real. It was, in fact, a giant carrot. The carrot began to fall, and it hit the ground with a bunch of dust coming up.
I asked God what the dream was about, and He gave me instructions about something unrelated, but with that came a full understanding of the dream. I had a lot of storms in my life at the time that were scaring me, and He was showing me that a lot of them weren’t even real (maybe even all of them). They were lies the devil made to seem real because the he was trying to keep me terrified and stuck, and most of it was ridiculous when I thought about it (the carrot).
Imagine that. The devil went to that much trouble to stop little ol’ me from moving forward in God. It only confirmed to me that I must have some kind of devastating impact on the devil’s kingdom when I pray. That amazed me because it wasn’t like I was some “powerful” spiritual person other people looked to. I was nobody. I am still nobody in the reckoning of the world, but I’m know that I’m not nobody in the Lord. I have a direct connection to the Father through the blood of Jesus, and the devil is terrified of that because Jesus said He had come to earth to destroy the devil’s works. Satan wars against the people of God because Jesus’ mission to destroy him continues through them in His name. For many years he’s been successful in deceiving the church and keeping it quiet so it’s not much of a threat, but those days are over. There is a great awakening among God’s people, too, and they are beginning to realize the reason they are here, what they can do to combat evil, and what they don’t have to put up with from the devil. The significance of this truly historical because it hasn’t happened before. This is new, and it will result in “Biblical” events becoming so commonplace that they will be part of our daily lives.
Don’t let the devil knock you out of the fight. Throw him off and get in there. The devil only has lies and fear in his toolkit, so be done with fear, and cast away his lies. It is through lies and fear that he controls his minions, and it is through lies and fear that he tries to stop the ones who can do something about him. It is the truth that sets us free, and we really can rise above all that. God is absolutely good, and He has your best interest at heart, no matter who your are, even if you don’t know Him at all. He is bigger than anyone, and it’s not even a contest. Nothing is impossible for Him––absolutely nothing––so throw fear out the window and laugh at it. What God is doing now will benefit everybody except for the evil ones who sided with the devil to kick God off the planet. They are going to have nothing, and they will not be happy––the ones of them who survive, that is.
