I think the oil companies should pull out of California now. As in stop selling gas and diesel in the state starting tomorrow. The oil companies can then run ads that they support the green new deal.
No oil, coal or natural gas should be sold in California.
It would be a Yuge win for the environmental movement and would solve a lot of issues that California is facing like high gas prices.
I live part time in California (winters) for the last two years. I am a resident of Washington. Here is my basic observation. California has higher gas prices, but the politicians belch the same gas. Real estate and sales taxes are actually lower in California than in Washington. California has an income tax, Washington does not. As a “non-resident “, I don’t pay state income tax. California and Washington politicians are both trying to outdo each other by banning sales of gasoline fueled cars. Both are full of shit. It won’t happen, but most certainly not by 2030 (Washington) or 2035 (California). Both mentally ill governors will be gone by then and the hapless bastards who follow will keep kicking the can to their successors while taking credit for the cause and intent.
All in all, California wins. Same tyranny, much better weather.
Grew up hearing a story of a long shoreman. He would always check in at his local office in Washington State before traveling down to Cali. Cali wanted income tax from him due to 'working in Cali'. He would actually work between Cali and Asia but the nuts in California didn't care. That check in protected him.
I think some pro athletes had issues with games played in California. Bottom line is; if you work in Cali, you owe income tax there.
