Recently ordered a wooden puzzle, made with quality inks, no cardboard, and started to work on it...immediately felt the relaxation of putting down my electronic appendages to totally focus on something else for a bit...my grown son, on his daily stop-by, engaged in it with me, as our discussion turned to reconnecting with each other as family in general, not through electronics...this has been both relaxing and fun, as a way to step back and reorganize our brains on something finite, rather than the infinitely awful shit going on in our world today...wondering who might have other suggestions for "decompression"...am also thinking that when shtf, these puzzles will come in handy as well, working by candle light and calming our runaway thoughts...just an observation...this is my very first post, but have been around here for a good while now, just commenting occasionally...thanks for letting me in the clubhouse, lol...

(Why RC crawling is the best hobby ever)
My son's and I have really gone deep into this hobby. I gets us outside doing stuff together that isn't yard work.
We have also gotten rid of the video game systems through attrition and gotten into board games bigly instead. Up until last year I had no idea just how many excellent games exist you're never going to see in stores.
Carcassonne hunters and gatherers is my wife's fav so it gets the most play. We also play the heck out of ticket to ride, raiders of the north sea, and great western trail.
We used to play a question and answer game called things.....until one night we realized that "sentient robots" was an apt answer for 95% of the questions and it was entirely too funny for entirely too long. No real answers are now possible, as one or more of us will always answer sentient robots....it ruined the game lol but it was a lot of fun for a while.
Game night is good memory making time. Can recommend.
