Look into the Queen's uncle who abdicated. He was a Nazi sympathizer and did a deal with Hitler that he would be King after the UK was taken over by Germany.

I don't recall reading anything about a deal between Edward and Hitler, but it wouldn't surprise me. He and his bride were seen in Germany showing allegiance to Hitler.
