interesting coincidences for the late King Charles'
Charles I was the only British monarch to be publicly tried and executed for treason, while Charles II, known as the Merry Monarch, spent many years in exile, had 13 illegitimate children and numerous mistresses. His reign was also accompanied by the plague and the Great Fire of London.
The new monarch's name is traditionally announced at the historic Council of Succession, held at St. James's Palace in London a few days after the sovereign's death. It is part of the proclamation of the new king.
But Prime Minister Liz Truss referred to King Charles III in her Downing Street speech, saying: "Today the Crown passes, as it has done for more than a thousand years, to our new monarch, our new head of state, His Majesty King Charles III."
Royal Central speculates that Charles might choose another name because the two previous monarchs named King Charles were part of the English Civil Wars.
The name might be bad luck! The Prince of Wales has four first names, Charles Philip Arthur George, so he could pick one of those, becoming King Philip, King Arthur, etc. -- you get the idea.
As for his mother, Hello! Magazine recalled a story about Elizabeth when she chose her regnal name. When the 25-year-old princess was asked what she wanted for her regnal name, the always sensible Elizabeth responded, "My own, of course." That's how the queen became Elizabeth II.
A few days (3)? after the sovereigns death they announce the name? Would that be considered verified as that makes it sept 11th. 911 is becoming synonymous with fictional acts.
666 = King Charles 😳
