keep your weapons handy, the sword of truth, the word of God!
God won because he brought back Elijha who being fearless and love in his heart defeats satan.
You've got that right, noble frog.
The material world is the shadow of the spiritual world. Our souls are eternal. Nobody’s (least of all me) living as if that’s true, but nevertheless….
I'm currently choosing to frame things as:
"The material world" == Our "womb world".
In our " womb world" we live and grow while also aware of another world beyond our understanding. "See as through a mirror darkly then face to face".
Perhaps, as many believe, what those in the " womb world" call death is what triggers our pascha ie passage, through the "birth canal" so we can enter "the real world".
"Our souls are eternal".
When I became an avid gardener I began to wonder if only " our souls are eternal".
Ancient Christians were adamant that the body was eternal but the eternal body would be different and more glorious than the old "material world" body.
Ive observed with my own eyes how perennial plants " die" in the winter then are "resurrected" the following spring. The "resurrected plant is always far bigger and more glorious than the plant that had died and been buried in the ground the previous year.
What a beautiful and thoughtful response. When I became an Orthodox Christian I accepted the dogma that we’ll have resurrected bodies like Jesus did. We’ll be adopted siblings of aThe Creator of the Universe! Wow. I’m in. That said, I believe there’s solid evidence reincarnation, or metempsychosis does occasionally occur. (See Dr Ian Stephenson’s case study research at UVA). Maybe it’s like any other bureaucracy and once in a while a nip and tuck is required to keep things orderly. I don’t know. I’ve seen it in old movies though…
I used to imagine our lives as assignments accepted before birth but forgotten afterward. That’s heterodox, so I renounce it, but only with difficulty. I do however wonder about the implications of the blind from birth guy. He was supposedly, and this from Christ Himself born so as to be available to complete the prophecy.
I don’t know, or claim to know but I do wonder. If I get to ask I will. Maybe it’ll be superfluous, and i can be satisfied to find out about the quantum fine constant thing. 1/137 just seems so unlikely as something without which matter is impossible. I’m sure it’s a running joke up there… but I just gotta know. As for accepting dogma, I’m all in.
