I'm looking to make sure that I deprogram my children from any bullshit they get in school. Any recommendations for books I can read to young children? 3-8
I remember Rush Limbaugh had some nice ones, but I want some more historically accurate ones to instill that honor and pride for America I had when growing up.
First, prevent the main problem by HOME SCHOOLING
Second, go to the homeschool curricula sites and check out their lists for preschool through second grade, or go to their American History years and use their book lists. Most of them have a two year cycle of American History with great nonfiction and accurate fiction books. You can chase them down in the library or buy them in a reasonably-priced package. Most of them remain based and unapologetically Christian, but I've noticed a few have gone woke around civil war topics.
Hillsdale College has the full 1776 Curriculum to download for free, includes reading lists for all ages.
Biblioplan has magnificent history books designed to be used for all ages, with reading and music and video lists. They are my favorite right now because they're the only one I've found that keeps everything in global chronological context.
Beautiful Feet and Charlotte Mason have amazing book lists as well. You will find a lot of overlap among all the best lists.
The older books, Newberry award winners, and those that use original sources of course will be the better selections. Lastly, also use the books that great men had in their own education, for instance the color fairy books (the blue fairy book, the red fairy book etc) which long ago collected international folk tales, much more authentic and insightful than Disney pablum. Some are in print but I found nearly all four free download from Project Gutenberg, where most of the classics are being preserved. Good luck, pede.
