It sure felt good going to the range today. We have an older lady who is a dear friend and she lost her husband about two years ago. Since then she's been busy with her horses and her property, but we finally got her to look at handguns for her personal protection [although around where I live, anyone stupid enough to break into anyone's home won't live to tell about it]. Anyway, she found a couple of good models at Bass Pro Shops and will likely get a S&W easy racking pistol, 9mm. So, after that, we got to the range.
I had her try our guns - a Springfield Arms 9mm and a Ruger 9mm, just to get her used to it. She ended up doing pretty well after a couple of clips. I showed her how to hold it, stance, eyes to target, and she was very receptive. Nice to know that she's finally going to have something to keep by her bedside.
While my wife was working with her, I worked my S&W .40 cal, SDV40. Great gun to shoot. I also worked the Springfield 9mm, good little gun. Then, I broke the big dog out - Savage Model 11 Trophy Hunter. Great motion, nice and smooth, respectable kick but not overpowering. Made for a productive Saturday. Highly recommend range time for anyone just to get that confident feeling that with a firearm, you've got a friend.
