they already do this stuff. Most purchases have a designated code that is attached that identifies what type of transaction it is.

Yes, but apparently the guns and ammo lobby has kept this from being tracked until now. I believe tracking these purchases will be used to support red flag laws. Buy too much, red flag for you!
