That's a hard thing to deal with, the folks running powerplants are almost certainly a good lot, its a shame to think any of them would get hit.
Although if you were trying to cut the power without hitting people, its not impossible. Especially if the Russians plan on taking over the power plants later, they would want the main infrastructure in tact.
Unmanned sub stations would be easy targets to hit and do both objectives. First one out from the plant would kill everything down line and back feed into the plants tripping every breaker shutting it down without destroying it.
Just speculating, but it really seems like Russia wants to keep the infrastructure intact, particularly with winter around the corner. Unless they were desperate, it wouldn’t make sense for a direct power station attack. Perhaps they targeted the lines or a substation?

Yeah. If they’re old, decrepit ass plants then they’re probably better off just destroying them anyway.
