I have a personal, unaltered one: I just know that a close family member was diagnosed with glioblastoma last October. They had a 2.5cm tumor removed from their brain with weeks of the diagnosis. They were poked, prodded, tested, injected, neglected and told all kinds of mean ugly nasty things like the survival rate of this terrible affliction. Since it’s super aggressive the 5 year survival rate is about 5%. Recurrences were supposed to be quick and fierce. Since then, they’ve had numerous MRIs with zero signs of any recurrences. They’ve been on a protocol set forth by Dr Makis (iver/fenben/menben I believe) in parallel with Chemo. Their very last chemo treatment took place last week and the latest MRI from this past weekend showed a tiny, tiny blip that the Dr attracted to treatment side effects. They’ve had an amazing run so far with something that was supposed to make them completely miserable until it killed them within a short time. The only issue they’ve felt is a bit of fatigue.

I can’t even change bulbs on my truck. The LEDs are all solid state. When they go out, I have to buy completely new housings. I’ve had them for LONG time and they’re still fine. Still absolutely sucks to think that this was designed to be a revenue stream for a dealership if they fault out. I will be doing the work myself out of complete spite.

Interesting comment. I work in an industry where the engineers who design the systems I operate every damned day and know VERY well are trying to automate just about every facet of them. The more automated things get the more efficient things get. I can admit that. The day to day operation suffers though because the use of a “30,000’” view is not used. Several little things being better on their own definitely lead to big picture things that create bigger issues. No human life is lost, mind you. However the similarities of what I’m seeing and the things you’re outlining in your comment are striking.
