Trumpets also lines up with the understanding that this also related to the creation of the heavens and the earth.
Jews today celebrate Trumpets as Rosh HaShannah the new year - this despite God having told Moses Exodus 12:1 that the year starts with the month in which Passover falls, commonly called Nisan (Babylonian name) God refers to moths by numbers. But then the church has us celebrating Christ's birth aligned with the Babylonian mid winter feast of Mithras and the rebirth of the sun, so we cannot be too hard on them!
Jews have the extra-Biblical feast of Hanukkah also termed the 'season of our joy' and 'season of light' Jesus the light coming into the world, which I have taken to be the time when Jesu was incarnate of Mary. The Hebraic Roots chap, Ed Chummey posits this, and as I recall points to the Zacharias meeting with Gabriel at the announcement of John the Baptist - Zach being of the priestly order of Abijah, and in Chronicles David schedules when each priestly group is to serve at the Temple, with all divisions sending priests for the three main gatherisngs of Passover, Pentecost and Tabernacles, his view is that this would have been Pentecost, Zach return Elizabeth falls pregnant and 6 months later - Hanukkah Mary comes with Jesus in her womb.
Genesis 7-9 clearly demonstrates the 360 day year, and my assumption has been that the flood did indeed change the cycles. The prophetic 360 day, 12 x 30 day months remains for porphecy purposes and many fail to take this into account.
Good stuff. Also David setting up the priests into 24 groups, then we have the 24 Elders in Rev 4:4.
Christians miss out on so much meaning when they ignore learning about the Festivals.
I'm not Messianic but learn so much from them and Hebrew roots. Then share with my friends who don't get this stuff from our local churches here.
Thanks for you reply and its good to find another believer who understands the significance of the Leviticus 23 Feasts and how they set out God's plan for the redemption of mankind.
I first became drawn to understand about 25 years ago, and though I have tried to engage other Christians too often the just take the 'that's OT law and has ceased' line - though some are happy to come to Passover Meal, they at least can connect the Passion to Passover, but cannot get engagement with a Pentecost or Tabernacles meal.
My wife and I try to keep to the Feasts and weekly Sabbath but it is not easy with a deep rooted Christian gentile mindsets which need constant guarding so not to forget.
Your first comment did spur a new thought that the 24 Elders relate to Peter's 'Royal Priesthood' and Rev 5:8-10 and I wonder if come the Millennial Reign if the world will be ordered and managed under 24 regions, so Christ >> 24 Elders >> Nations >> County >> City >> Town, with each 'King & Priest' ruling over a number of these 'administrative' areas per the minas of Luke 19.
That's pretty cool to think about.
