My good friend is saying goodbye to this world today. He had a bicycle accident which left him brain dead. They’re harvesting his organs right now, 8 PM mountain time, and his family is saying goodbye to him. He was only 38 Yrs old! I really have nobody to share this with.

I’m so sorry fren. It’s an awful tragedy to lose someone with lots of life ahead.
I was close to someone who used to work in that field. Even in the sadness, there are so many recipients and their families who are on the other end of his gift…his tragedy and his gift answers so many prayers. And your friend does live on in those here on earth.
Let that be a bit of consolation for you tonight.
I hope that it helps over time too. My friend said that every year, there would be a “celebration of life” ceremony, where all of the donor’s families and the recipient families could go to…sometimes the families may even meet each other. The emotions between the families and recipients were so big…the grief was revisited, and the hugs of the donor families given to the recipients…it was as if they were holding their loved ones again. Perhaps there is a similar event there which you may attend?
I’m glad you’re here and glad you posted. You are not alone.
Thank you so much for sharing that beautiful insight. Yes I am trying to think forward, to the people that will be kept alive, or even be given sight. He had the most beautiful blue eyes, even my friend today mentioned that. I hope that they go to somebody who needs them. There will be families all over the United States that will be rejoicing in their hope of their loved one being given life today, so yes I will rest in knowing that.
