My good friend is saying goodbye to this world today. He had a bicycle accident which left him brain dead. They’re harvesting his organs right now, 8 PM mountain time, and his family is saying goodbye to him. He was only 38 Yrs old! I really have nobody to share this with.

First, my deepest condolences to you u/ThisIsHowItStarts concerning your friend. May God provide love and mercy from this tragedy.
As further information to u/TrumpFan2000 post. Let me say, even if you don't put "organ donor" on your drivers license, you are still considered an organ donor. According to the language of the law, Revised Anatomical Gift Act (2006), you must “opt-out,” documenting your "refusal" in writing using "explicit language," otherwise, it is "presumed" that you have consented to be an organ donor to be utilized for the purpose of "organ transplantation, education and research." Let's call it for what it is, organ harvesting is big money for hospitals.
Family members really do need to stand guard over a loved one in the hospital. It is becoming apparent that hiring a lawyer to go to the hospital for protecting your rights (and life) might be a good idea.
Clues to any nefarious activity existing in your State can be provided by what Canada and Great Britain are doing. If a medical law is enacted in Canada or Great Britain for instance, you can bet that there is ground work to make it happen here in the United States. How far is it in the process though? Which States have already adopted the policy? And what are they not telling us that already exists? How many people are aware of the Revised Anatomical Gift Act (2006)? This ought to be a real concern for everyone and their loved ones. Take a look at Great Britain and what they just enacted. How long was this the behind-the-door policy before they decided to make it a law? UK’s New Organ Policy. --- Scary.
