I thought it was more because they constitutionally can't use all of the data that they are illegally collecting as evidence. Instead they will issue a warrant for some other suspected bullshit that is technically legal, and then coincidentally find what they actually wanted.

Yeah, the 4th Amendment still works kinda. That’s why the commies make up new crimes such as hate speech. Getting arrested for hate speech seemingly gives probable cause to search your house.
