Why does Biden always hold a microphone now?

I've noticed that in the past couple of weeks, every time the resident speaks in front of people, he's always holding a microphone, even while standing behind a podium which has mics set up on it. He hasn't always done this, has he? Am I taking crazy pills?

Could you imagine joe being able to comprehend and remember that concept for more than 5 seconds before he got distracted and started yelling about THINKING ABOUT WHAT YOUD THINK ABOUT

An earlier commenter nailed it, hes given something to hold so he doesn't gesture at empty space like there was someone present.
