A local account is typically more in a domain environment where you have local computer accounts and domain accounts accessing the computer. Starting with Windows 10 they offered setting up the computer with an MS account or with an "offline account" which is more or less a local account.
They really do push the MS account thing though through setup even if not connected to the internet. Most would be like, Woah, I need the MS account! Trying to add a new user account after setup isn't much better, but they really should have a prompt during setup about Bitlocker.
The only other OS I've installed/setup was POP_OS and it prompts you about disk encryption and setting a password to unlock the drive prior to login.
I'm looking forward to seeing how technology reacts around the Great Awakening!
I have little doubt there's a way to get around it, I just don't know the trick.
The trend appears to be heading towards locking computers down such that a person would no longer have control over their own computer.
I agree with you about bitlocler, only because that has potential implications that people should be aware.
As for future tech, that's one that is unpredictable, only because the entire frame of thinking could change. Part of me expects that it will be a degeneration to more humble lifestyles. I mean people are still tribal, but when tribes get too big it starts having problems.
Honestly, I'd be fine with seeing a major regression in technology. It's too easily used nefariously.
