Similar situation I had, with my grandmother. She died in April of 2020, and the funeral was not open to more than 5 people. So I didn't get to attend. She had dementia too. Thankfully I got to spend an hour, 3 days a week with her her last several months. I had agreed with Family to help her with her cat and make sure no bad messes, as the home wasn't very great at keeping up with her. They seemed okay.... but not great. So I had some time with her. But it is so wrong I couldn't attend funeral
