I'll add to my op, they monitored my fluid intake/output. Because they felt my output wasn't adequate, they ordered a ultrasound of my prostate. I told them there is nothing wrong with my plumbing, never had been. Ultrasound proved I was right so their next game was to give me a catheter - WHILE I WAS FULLY AWAKE. That was unbelievably painful and entirely unnecessary! That is a one way valve to be sure. Of course all of these tests and procedures were added to my bill. I should mention, I had recently lost my job due to the economy and had no insurance. They say don't hold grudges, but I can't let this one slide.
With it coded as a Covid diag they got up to iirc 20% ON TOP of the bill if you died. So heck yeah they're adding anything they can think of because in the end it may pay off 20% higher
I would love to but I don't have a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out. I was in good shape and an able body/productive member of society. In the month it took me to recover, I lost 40 pounds and most of my muscle tissue atrophied. I got evicted and currently live with family. They can Bill me until the cows come home, I am at an age where I won't love long enough to pay off my debts. The coof devastated the life I had. Not self pity... Reality. I do what I can to just get by and try to be of service to anyone who needs it.
I wonder if it was your bladder they were scanning, not your prostate? We do monitor intake/output - our bodies are machines and have to have the right balance of fluid.
If you hadn’t voided in x amount of time, after taking in x amount of fluid, we scan your bladder to see how much fluid you are retaining in it.
If it is over 500 mls you get cathed, awake.
A nice nurse may give you a little bit of IV pain med, but you would never go under anesthesia for a catheter. Anywhere in the world.

Have you taken legal action? That's major medical malpractice and that bill should just be dismissed, along with you getting a payout.
