Were that me behind the counter, the attacker would have been (likely) dead at some point when he posed a threat that made me feel it immediately necessary to prevent the infliction of great bodily harm or death to myself. In other words, if it became clear that maybe only one of us would be going home that night, I would make it my duty to ensure that it was me. Any time a criminal opts to use deadly threat, they are assuming the risk of having deadly force used upon them. They know this. They calculate this. It is always in the back of their mind if not at the forefront. If they are willing to murder another person or even to make another person believe they are in imminent danger of being murdered, that other person is legally and morally justified by universal law and man-made law to turn the tables and yes to pre-emptively ensure that the threat doesn't mature into an opportunity. Once you know a criminal is posing that threat, you have a solemn obligation to your self, to your family, and to your loved ones to choose your life over the criminal's and not permit even a possibility that you might be killed. Crime victims who are armed but nevertheless injured in an attack will always tell you they regret not shooting sooner. You have no idea if you are dealing with a blood-thirsty killer or a punk, and there are enough blood-thirsty killers out there to make the risk of giving the criminal the benefit of the doubt unjustified.
Saint Kyle was a master class. He missed one, but the rest of his shots were almost divinely placed.
Absolutely what I was thinking.

Sounds like England.
