As a county social worker who works closely with CPS, albeit in a small, well-run county, I'm quite familiar with the system. In a large city with dozens of children a day being moved from dangerous homes into county custody, to a group home, shelter or foster home, all you need is one social worker and one supervisor working together to fudge records and have a child disappear. The drug addict mother or mother with major MH issues is powerless to fight the system to accuse the county of taking her child. Large city CPS agencies have been moving kids out of the system to God knows where for a long time. And the people who try to investigate often end up dead. May God protect this senator as he investigates.
