I was just thinking about those caskets the other day! I remember when that info first came out. I wondered through the years how they’d kill us so as to need all of those caskets, and now I know.

The "caskets" were part of DOD project to increase the number of military cemeteries. Remember, this was post 2001 when the war on terror was ramping up. The "caskets" were vault liners. The cemeteries were constructed so that a plot wouldn't need to be dug immediately before each funeral. There have been at least 26 military cemeteries built since 2001.
