Today, everyone with some sort of “job” owns or rents a dishwasher, a clothes washer, and has a contract with a utility to bring water to their home. Do you think five thousand years ago people didn’t think to buy their way out of having to do these chores? Except five thousand years ago, we didn’t have mechanical dishwashers, we had slaves. Everyone of means bought a slave to make their life easier.
