That's a simple result of arrogance. People nowadays think they are smarter than the people of yesterday, or of 500 years ago, or... Cause you know, we have universities and stuff. "People before were stupid, we know how to make communism work this time!"

Makes for some very easily controllable people too. If you already know the logical order of things A > B > C from studying the past, then if you manage to make people think A, you know what to expect next and what to do.
