The 24th is the last day of the Jewish year. Rosh Hashana starts on the 25th, the festival starting the new year.
Big things indeed.
I'd like to mention that 5 red heifers just made it to Israel last week. There has not been a single unblemished red heifer that meets all the judaic requirements in 2000 years.
This is important because without the ashes of an unblemished red heifer, they cannot build that 3rd temple.
With all that being said, the heifers are less than a year old and need to be between 3 and 4, if in not mistaken, before they can be sacrificed.

It's not mythology. The red heifers importance only lays in the fact that it's a requirement for Jewish law. The significance is that Daniel's and Jesus's prophecies about the end times speak of the temple and rituals are in place at that time. The only way the jews will rebuild this temple is with the red heifer being sacrificed.
The abomination of desolation happens inside the temple.
Again, the heifer has no relation to Christians.
I've heard that my whole life from growing up in evangelical dispensational premillenial churches. Gary gives another perspective that I have since researched and find to be more biblical and in line with historical Christianity. He's written many end times books. But, ultimately the take away isn't ones opinion of the end times, as John MacArthur says it will pan out in the end, but what truly matters is repentance and faith in Christ.
