I can't see the montage, but at the rally last night, they played several Phantom songs before Trump came out. And also "Memories" from Cats and "I Dreamed a Dream" from Les Miserables. I know Trump posted about Phantom closing last week, but I don't know what's up with all the maudlin Broadway tunes at the rally.
My husband wondered if the phantom theme has something to do with the "ghost in the machine" video that came out a few months ago. And in The Phantom of the Opera, there are underground tunnels beneath the opera house, and kidnappings take place. It just seems to me that the invisible "powers that be" are losing control of the machine and will soon be dead.
Interesting. I went to look up the lyrics and found this info. Not saying it has to do with the comms, but found it interesting.
“ Not long after this song was released, Webber was sued by a songwriter named John Brett, who claimed that Webber copied his 1985 composition "Farewell Song." Webber vigorously denied the accusation. He said that his song was written before Brett's, and that he even supervised a demo recording of "Phantom" sung by Mike Batt and Sarah Brightman in 1984. Brett dropped the case in 1991, at which time Webber stated: "It was monstrous that this matter was allowed to run and run for over five years. I am delighted my name has been cleared."

weird!!! what do you think?
Sum of all fears soundtrack...
The Phantom of the Opera is leaving Broadway after 3 decades
I love that musical! But yeah, this is a bit odd…
[CHRISTINE]
In sleep he sang to me, in dreams he came
That voice which calls to me and speaks my name
And do I dream again? For now I find
The Phantom of the Opera is there
Inside my mind
[PHANTOM]
Sing once again with me, our strange duet
My power over you grows stronger yet
And though you turn from me to glance behind
The Phantom of the Opera is there
Inside your mind
[CHRISTINE]
Those who have seen your face
Draw back in fear
I am the mask you wear
[PHANTOM]
It's me they hear...
[BOTH]
Your spirit and my voice
In one combined
The Phantom of the Opera is there
Inside your mind
[BACKUP]
Beware, the Phantom of the Opera
[PHANTOM]
In all your fantasies, you always knew
That man and mystery
[CHRISTINE]
Were both in you
[BOTH]
And in this labyrinth, where night is blind
The Phantom of the Opera is here
[CHRISTINE]
Inside your mind...
