Not true. It’s a charger. You can use Tesla Supercharger, or independent charge station.

I would like to clarify that I meant "battery warranty", I seem to have left off the word warranty.
However, it does run the risk of voiding your battery warranty, From Tesla's New Vehicle Limited Warranty, page 10, "Non-genuine Tesla parts or accessories or their installation, or any damage directly or indirectly caused by, due to, or resulting from, the installation or use of non-genuine Tesla parts or accessories"
