There's a fantastic book I've been meaning to get and it's called:

Usury in Christendom: The Mortal Sin that Was and Now is Not

IMHO, usury is what has completely brought down the Christian church and enslaved it to the Evil One. If you are interested in synopsis of this book, here is Michael Hoffman on ‘Usury in Christendom’

No, can't say I have. Michael Hoffman is one of the most definitive authors in the world on the subject though.
