One of the things Romans deals with is the issue of salvation. While I just finished reading Romans in my study Bible a month or two ago, I could probably stand to re-read it again.
The Great Awakening is supposed to be a return to God (in addition to everything else it will bring). As Q said, "The end won't be for everyone" applies to many subsets of people.
One question I had is: did God intend for all people to be saved? Or will only a certain subset of people be saved and rise into the kingdom of eternal life?
I believe the answer is "No, he didn't intend for everyone to be saved" but I'm open to having my mind changed.
In that, I want to use a Paul Revere analogy. We gallop on our horse to try and spread the Gospel so that people might come to be saved. Anybody that does come to faith, is a +1 for the Kingdom, even if God didn't intend for them to believe. However, realizing that we shouldn't expend tons of our energy and go to great lengths to convert. This might be where "do not cast your pearls before swine" comes into play....but maybe I'm taking that out of context. Context is very important in the Bible I've noticed.
Since coming to my faith earlier this year (thank you GAW/DJT), I've had a lot of questions that my church family hasn't been able to give me a good answer to and this is one of them.
You remember how Jesus fed 3’000 people with 5 loaves breads and 2 fishes?
I usually think of it as an image: His Word is what has fed their Souls with. Few words were enough to instill many people’s hope.
