So, who would be an acceptable Speaker come January? Support your answer. Assume Trump is not in the mix. He already said 'not interested' a while back.

Keep in mind that we don't get to choose the Speaker. The House is an institution; The Republican Conference is it's own community with longstanding customs. Speakers are usually nominated because of their track record in leadership of the Conference. Speakers are not typically nominated because of how conservative they are perceived to be, or due to clever soundbites they may have created.
So for someone to get the job, first, they have to want the job. Then someone has to nominate them. And if they are actually opposing conference leadership, then they run the risk of being left out of important committee assignments.
