..when you have to upgrade your iphone but you couldn't care less. the flashy gadgets don't sway me like they used to, the excitement isn't there and i can't shake the feeling that i'm helping tim apple's corrupt empire.

I used to watch each keynote with rapt attention. Now I can't be bothered.
Maybe the same applies to the engineers too—these days I can't even tell which model is which anymore, there's so little innovation.
i'm with you, apple's events are so steeped in symbolism too. i won't pretend to ignore the fact that the iphone was released in september's ritual week
