Those are really old roots, and probably have little to nothing to do with the current conflict. Neither Russia nor Ukraine has much in a stake in Ukraine and Poland's disputes over brands of Christianity. That divide is ancient. Honestly, if we look at this situation, Poland has taken in more Ukrainian refugees and with more generosity than any other country in this war, and it has steadfastly supported the war effort with just about any request it could. Ukrainian troops train in Poland. Poland has donated large amounts of military hardware and acts as a conduit for NATO to supply Ukraine. Poland may be Catholic and Ukraine Orthodox, but they're very much aligned on this current conflict because they both hate the Russians.
