I went to City Hall to pay a utility bill today and spotted this sign in front of the drop box. This is in Wisconsin, where during the 2020 election people would just drop their ballots through a slot into an unsecured/unsupervised box (I'm guessing?) inside the lobby...
I get the instructions to take the ballot to the clerk's office who will only accept one from you.
I get where you can only legally drop one ballot at your polling place.
But, how is putting one ballot (or 'many' in the case of the fraudsters) in a public mailbox safer or more secure than dropping it in one of these boxes?
Is it because these boxes have security cameras and they want the ballot harvesters to drop in a less-secure and videotaped location??
I'm with you on that - how is a mailbox not just as much of a joke as a drop box?!
As well, two of us in my household (though one has moved out more than a year ago) have received "vote at home ballot request forms" from the Voter Participation Center in Madison. We do not need vote at home ballots.

So...why not remove the box?
Its actual purpose is for things like utility bills and parking tickets, etc. So it's still there for those sorts of things.
