Drought causes Yangtze to shrink
A record-breaking drought has caused parts of the Yangtze River to dry up – affecting hydropower, shipping routes and limiting drinking water supplies. Images captured by the Copernicus Sentinel-2 mission show a comparison of the Yangtze and Jialing rivers...
Wasn't this same river about to overflow the three gorges dam not that long ago?
Yes, actually. According to the NYT, the Three Gorges Dam had reached its highest water levels since it began holding water in 2003.
Now that you mention it, going from extremely flooded to parts of the Yangtze drying up due to a lack of rainfall in just over a year seems extremely odd.
Zaklee. Now they are having the worst draught in months. Time to consider an electric car.
