Decades ago my f-i-l showed me some fiber optic cable which was amazing. Told me that tv sets would be so thin they would hang on the wall like pictures and that people would get speeding fines by post without even realising they had gone over the limit. At the time it all seemed extraordinary, now I wonder what he kept quiet about.
