For the first six months of 2022, while the Federal Reserve raised interest rates by 1.5%, its $8.5 trillion bond portfolio suffered, by our estimates, an unrealized loss of $850 billion, or a loss of -10.25% and 17x its captial. The Fed is technically insolvent.
