Believe it or not, people can learn to love one another, treat one another with respect with out any religion.

I don't. Religion is the base of civilization and once you take away that base, the civilization will begin to collapse though it may not happen overnight. Without religion to devote for a higher cause, humans are just an empty shell just like that civilization they live in. Their love and respect too is hollow and shallow.
