Man, I am ready for America to be safe again. In the last week, my sister, who lives in a pretty nice rural area, said that 6 trucks in her neighborhood have been stolen. They find them on another road with the catillitic converter stolen and the car ransacked. One of my close friends, who lives in an "older" 90's McMansion area, said that cars have been getting stolen in her neighborhood left and right. The thieves know there is only 2 entrances to the area, so they have their friends watch both entrances for the police and escape with the stolen cars without a care in the world. We are even seeing tagging starting in our area, and we are in the mountains, tucked off the roads in a valley. It's coming closer and closer all the time and it makes me so mad. What kind of dangers do I need to raise my kids to watch out for? Don't eat or drink anything anyone gives you, don't walk alone, don't park outside.. I mean, where does it end??? pisses me off .
Would it be possible for your community to organise a roster of volunteers to run regular patrols of the area after hours?
Our community in the hills is small, and luckily everyone watches out for everyone else. In these city community of the McMansion, there's lots of blue blood and the people would rather sit in their houses with the windows closed, cowering and hoping for the best. When their car is gone in the morning, they complain on social media and wonder where the police are. My McMansion friend is conservative, however they have never shot or own a gun. Her (admittedly wimpy) husband has a plan of using a crossbow if his family is threatened (insert rolling eyes here). My sister, I know they all get together, however I don't know what they have planned, if anything. More conservatives in her area, however we all know that doesn't mean they are brave people. My sister sure will shoot at her own car as it's driving away without her, that's for sure.
