I always hear it's for the kids too... so they don't go to school in the dark. it's funny because that's the #1 reason I hear for changing the clocks. That's not even the original reason it started! Don't you think the kids would rather have another hour to play outside in the snow or yard instead of coming home and it's dark? Let them play!!!! I would love to have another hour of light in the evening so I can drive home and not slip slide around, so I can go to the store on my way home and not stress about going home in the dark (astigmatism), also so I can let the dogs out into the yard later than 5pm to go poo!!! I hate that their last time out has to be 4:55 or 5pm!!!! We are in predator country, and I would love to be able to see in the yard so I can make sure they are safe to go poo!!! That hour of daylight in the evening would be so appreciated at our house!!!

Man, it's hard to believe it's been 27 years. I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing that day. I was confused as to why they couldn't find any bodies. That's when I started waking up and realizing the media and government don't have my best interests at heart.

I miss being young and naïve. It was much easier, but I still pray JFK Jr is still out there, helping Trump!!!

Why only from Georgia? What about the other original 13 colonies area? Why not New York, where he has a friend in charge already? Interesting wording.

"She was physically unable to continue her shift". That is one squishy, I am my feelings, lib. That HE needs to grow a pair and be a man.

I hope people know her address and, while she's still there, come knocking on her door.
5 years isn't enough. That'll be reduced to 18 months of community service.

I doubt they are terrified. Terrified will be when they don't have prepared answers and start falling all over each other coming up with excuses to questions they didn't anticipate. Hopefully their handlers are arrested so they don't have any direction as to what their answers should be!

The media will go crazy on this, make up their defenses, get all ready to fight... and Trump will come out and announce his new Trump deck of cards again. Or shoe laces, since cards were already done. I will laugh and probably choke on my popcorn.

Maybe I'm not too big business/charity savvy, however the only reason it looks bad is because the person writing it thinks it is bad. It's like only hearing one line of a quote, and being asked an opinion. I saw one recently where it was like "'take their guns, ask questions later' and the interviewer said it was a PDJT quote. Guess what? it was taken out of context. It was in regard to red flag laws. So yeah, gonna wait and, if I feel like looking further into it, find out more.

I can't imagine hating your president so much that you would put that pilot at risk like that to help the enemy.

I am interested in his death. Was it after he came back home from Ukraine? Was it on the plane? Was he feeling fine on the plane back and then had a heart attack conveniently after he got home? I think this is a little close to when Trump had to switch planes coming home too. 72 hour rule here.

Also, what will happen with Graham AND crazy Mitch gone?

All these arguments saying businesses are going to go under without the illegals reminds me of freeing the slaves in the late 1800's. If you re-read all of the comments saying business will go under, with the lens of reading it in the late 1860's, it's a weird feeling. The US has increased the minimum legal wage too high. We used to hire unqualified people to sweep the floors and work their way up. We stopped doing that about 8 or so years ago, because the minimum wage got higher than we were willing to pay someone with ambition to sweep floors. So if a company goes under because the illegals are swept out of here, it'll readjust. We readjusted after slavery, we will readjust after this mild form of slavery that was subsidized by We the People.
Now we need to stop inflation and lower the minimum wage, and get our teenagers working again!!!

I remember, probably about 1979, a family joining our school that were Iranian. Their Dad was a professor at the school of mines in our community. I knew they fled, I didn't know the circumstances since I was not even 10 years old at the time.

Now I am learning more and more about what they came here from, and I have much more sympathy for them! At the time I only had curiosity! I remember the girl had to learn English. We had this tape thing that she'd put into a machine and it would read the word out loud in her language (I have no recollection of what it was) and then in English as it zipped through the machine.

I can't even imagine what they went through before that, and how they got here.

I hate to say it, because you make good points, however I disagree. People said the same thing about fast food jobs and dishwasher jobs. However, there will always be someone who steps up. I have been desperate enough to work fast food.. when it was $3.35 an hour… and worked my way out of it. But it got me a leg up I needed.
Now no one takes fast food jobs because if you don’t speak Spanish, you won’t be part of the culture and team. If programmers speak English and need money, heck yeah they’ll sit for 40 hours programming.
I have an acquaintance who is self admitted he is lazy. I guarantee he would love a job where all he has to do is sit at a desk and program.

If I called a colleague who was in the hospital, I would keep it light and to easy subjects to not stress them out. "How are you feeling? Are they treating you well? When are they saying you'll be sprung outta there?" these people call and talk national security, elections, and history. What idiots. Or do they think we are the idiots?? don't answer that. I already know.

I was hiring an aerobics instructor in the early 2000's for a city recreation center, and she was pretty visibly pregnant. I was not allowed to ask if she is, not allowed to ask if she would be taking time off, how much, whether she was planning to come back afterwards, or even if she is able to perform the duties of the job at this moment in time of her pregnancy.

Needless to say she got hired (there were 3 of us on the hiring team, and I was outvoted because I couldn't "assume" she was pregnant and have it fall into my reasoning), she barely worked 3 months, I had to find countless subs when she couldn't come in. Three hired her, but I was her manager. City politics. She eventually took off to have her baby, got paid, came back of the week or whatever to justify getting paid, then quit.

It was delightful. Anyhow, yeah. But then suddenly, 15 years later, it's OK to hire and fire based on whether someone put a poison into their bodies.

Just outside the J.W. Marriott on Constitution. We could see the Washington Monument from our window. It was beautiful. So was the new monument!

We stood in the line on the other side, started standing in the heat at 2pm. Luckily everyone around us was nice... however about 4;30 we got to an intersection and people were literally POURING into line ahead of us from a crosswalk!!!!! Everyone was pi$$ed. We gave 2 1/2 hours of our lives to stand in line, to have probably 100+ people jump in line.

FINALLY about 5ish, the police showed up with water. Everyone was so dehydrated! Pallets of water were passed down. A sweet older lady we were standing with the whole time said her pulse was at 165. I gave her some liquid IV and she finally got some water, and she got it down to like 147 last I heard.

Luckily we had those compact umbrellas with us, and the website said no full size umbrellas or umbrellas with sharp ends. By the time we walked through the maze, people were holding onto the metal barriers for balance, drenched in sweat. Old people, service dogs and babies suffered the most.

We got to the metal detectors, and were told the secret service changed the rules, didn't tell anyone (yes, they said this), and umbrellas weren't allowed. We stood in the heat for 4 1/2 hours, I was so happy we had the umbrellas and people around us did too. We would have had to tap out without them. The fact that they didn't allow them in 100 degree heat AND rain predicted was ridiculous. My DH shoved our umbrellas behind a barrier we will go back for later this morning.

We sat down, found a pretty good place, started making friends, and the police and Secret Service aggressively kicked us out. They flyover was still going on, people want to see the planes our tax money paid for, and they were YELLING at us. "When the police tell you to do something, YOU DO IT!!" We were watching the planes!!! There was no immediate danger. I have a feeling the weather people were libs and were finding joy in kicking us out.

They wouldn't let us use the portapotties on the way out, and I had to pee like a racehorse. So I had to stand in a long line in a museum for one of three stalls.

There was no rain for the hour after they kicked us out, honestly the lightning was worse during the fireworks than it was when they kicked us out. We ended up walking back to our hotel, which took an hour because of street closures. If they would have let us walk through some of these streets, it would have been a 5-10 minute walk. People in the museums and around the area looked drained and overheated, water was scarce, and we were just too pooped to stand in line to get in again.

When they finally re-opened, we decided to stay in our room and watch the fireworks. We have a great view of the Washington Monument, so we ordered room service and ate dinner at 10:30pm. It ended a pleasant evening for us, however I am disappointed we missed so much of the flyovers because we stood in a useless line all day!

This was our experience, we saw so many people get overtaken by the heat, a service dog someone carelessly was keeping on the hot pavement, burning his paws (they were indignant that people were upset... "But he has to stay with my son!" the police finally told her that if she puts that dog on the pavement again, they would cite her). People were incredibly friendly, and we made friends. I am overly disappointed we flew across the country just to be kicked out of the venue. We would have seen Trump and had a great view! I just don't have that endurance anymore to go stand in line again!

We are here, and if your son is wearing blue shirts we saw them! A whole herd of kids. I will say, it is so stinking hot here. I know it would have been exciting, but I really think people would have been dropping from the heat.

Maybe they can wear their school t-shirts and walk around the festivities! There is so much going on, and I will be sure to high five them and talk to them if I have a chance. I will make sure these kids are still recognized. I would not have thought of that before this post, now I will go out of my way for any kid that looks like they are here with their school.

Tell him to watch the airplane flyovers! It's amazing. Seriously AMAZING. The sound bouncing off the buildings is just..... amazing. I promise he will still have good memories of being here!!!!
