Report: Leaked FBI email shows government now requiring firearm retailers to provide home addresses of customers
Every time you buy a gun, you have to pass your info through the FBI's National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) before you can take home your new little boating accident.
Scary.
However... I wonder about the accuracy of the claim that 90 pct of the time the background check fails. Really? How the hell are so many weapons purchased inthis country?
And, if someone has failed the check (the reasons are usually good reasons), is it possibly a good thing thatthey are followed up on? For example, if you have renounced your US citizenship, you are ineligible to buy a firearm. Or if you were dishonarbly discharged from the militarty. Or guilty of a felony.
I am definitely NOT in favor of more hoops and bureaucracy, but there are some guidelines that make sense.
I have a feeling that some of the clowns who feel it necessary to pay homeowners a visit aren't going to get a very warm reception.
