Dont know if this works at a vet's office but here's what I did at my cardiologist's office:

I told them I cannot wear a mask as I'm being treated for congestive heart failure. I hyperventilate within minutes and will need O2. So call and get a Medic here with the O2 and I'll put the mask on.

Got some hem-hawing and I said: You ARE MY CARDIOLOGISTS, check my records.

Not only did they let it go (I guess more because they didnt want to lose $ if I walked out) but I never had a faster doctor office visit.
