It's a good start because this would be their worst nightmare since they dont have the resources to chase up everyone.

Other than the obvious - they will make scapegoats of a few hundred protestors by ruining their lives, this is how it would play out - The media, the financial gurus, wall street, Fed presidents, will be paraded constantly to talk about how this is extremely detrimental to the financial system. Then they will go and pull the plug and crash the whole system, and blame it all on the protestors.

These protestors will then become the most hated people in the world as everyone suffer in the new Great Depression.
