Insurance companies, ESPECIALLY LIFE AND HEALTH INSURANCE COMPANIES, keep VERY accurate data on what illnesses cause what kind of costs and what illnesses can kill you, what treatments have what effects, etc. Do you smoke? Higher premiums. Cancer diagnosis? Life insurance won't even cover you until you've been cancer free for 5 years.

The point is, is that these companies keep track of EVERYTHING. Its how they can accurately price you and make sure they're able to turn a profit on you while you're paying premiums. They will sell you cheap term life insurance with high payouts when you're young and healthy because its just a free payday for them, statistically. Its actually a smart move to have it, btw, in case you die in an accident or due to some untested medication you were forced to take.
