For some years in the UK, even in the top supermarkets, it is almost impossible to find any sliced, cooked ham that does not have the magic word "formed" on the label. That means that the ham has been made from a kind of ham slurry and something to stick it together. Fat is also glued on.
Have you ever wondered how they can make ham slices such an exact match for a slice of bread?
Here is an example of "organic ham" from Waitrose. Note the line "Honey roasted formed ham" above the main text.
